It was an exciting day in Equination.net today with the running of two graded races. Both the Equination.net Oaks (GI) and the EQ.net Turf Marathon (GII) took place in the Canada conference. Each race attracted some talented runners and here are the results!
The Equination.net Oaks is the first jewel of the Triple Tiara series for three-year-old fillies. It is a mile and a quarter on the dirt and offers a purse of $900,000. As the field turned for home, Your Ashtray threaded through horses to grab the lead and pull away to a length and a half victory, earning a career-best 124 rating for her efforts. The Triple Stakes Racing homebred is a daugther of Royal Fate and US Senate. Ashtray has won 7 of 11 starts, only finishing out of the money once in a Grade II as a two-year-old. Her victory today has also boosted her past the $1 Million mark.
Finishing second with a career-best 122.5 rating was Clover Queen sent out by Iota Racing. The daughter of Endless King and White Clover was bred by Rare Bet and she has won 6 of 12 starts, never finishing worse than third. Her earnings are now over $575,000. Earning a 120.2 rating while finishing third was Austin's Daisy. This Wildcat Racing homebred is by Awesome Austin out of Bug Land. She has won 6 of 9 starts and has nearly $500,000 in earnings. These top three finishers will be granted automatic entry into the Sunshine Stakes (GII) and The Daisy Cup (GII), the final two jewels of the series.
The EQ.net Turf Marathon is a two mile race on the turf for three and four-year-olds. A purse of $600,000 was available. Crossing the wire first after fighting gamely down the stretch was Slip Storming the CastleLT, who earned a 121.5 rating when he won by a length. The three-year-old colt is owned by McDonald Racing and has graced the top rating charts for the past couple of weeks. Bred by Sloppy Monkey, Storming the Castle is by Todos los Santos out of Slip Gender Bender LT. He has won 13 of 14 starts, never finishing worse than third, and has now earned over $1 Million in his career.
Finishing second with a 120.5 rating was three-year-old filly Ipitydafool, who fought valiantly down the stretch. The Dreamflite Stables homebred is a daughter of Natural Fool and Damzel In Distress. She has won 7 of 11 starts, never finishing worse than second, and has banked over $575,000. Billande Gaelic LT, recently featured in the top ratings, finished third just a half length behind Ipitydafool. This three-year-old filly from MaVinny Farm is a daughter of Royal Fate and Buddins Nox Zi To Aye. She has won 10 of her 12 lifetime starts, never finishing out of the top three, and has now earned over $750,000 in her career.
